Just because we’re at the base of the Adirondack Park doesn’t mean that a good doctor is far away. There are local physicians with practices in Lake George and in most of the towns around the lake. Hudson Headwaters Health Network has locations throughout the area, and Glens Falls Hospital is only minutes away.
Opportunity to Volunteer or Get a Part Time Job
Retired people in Lake George are able to continue being involved with their lifelong passions, or explore new ones, with numerous volunteer opportunities. The region is packed with organizations that help people in the local area and beyond that can always use a helping hand. If you’re looking for a little extra income while retired, the many businesses in the area would be happy to put your skills to work for a few (or more) hours a week.
Affordable Housing
Most people who I work with who are looking to buy a home in Lake George for their retirement years tell me they think the houses in the area are priced reasonably. They are certainly not giving them away, but compared to prices in and around big cities where many people are coming from, the homes are in a very affordable range.
Family
Many people who retire in and around Lake George do have family in the area, so that makes the decision to find a home here an easy one. If your family isn’t local, you can feel comfortable know that the area is very family friendly, so when they come to visit there won’t be a shortage of activities and attractions on the agenda. And who knows, after a few visits they’ll be looking to become a local as well.
