Whether you choose me for your real estate agent or choose to go with someone else, I want to share a few tips that will help you get the most out of your relationship with your agent.
Be Open And Honest
In order to get the most out of your time, being open and honest throughout the process is a must. This means that if you know in your heart of hearts that your family needs a big yard and at least 4 bedrooms, please put those on the list. There’s no sense in spending time looking at a property that you know you won’t like. But if you don’t really know what all your wants and needs in a new home are, be open about that as well. That will allow me to show you a variety of homes, with different layouts and features, to help you figure out what it is you want.
And once you narrow your list down, or if your wants or needs change during the real estate search, let me know right away. There may have been a property that I didn’t show you because it didn’t meet your list that now fits, and I’ll be able to change the search parameters as new properties hit the open market.
Communication
In this day and age, real estate agents know how busy you can be. But there are times when getting in touch with you can be time sensitive (i.e., when a home that you have driven by with her and loved has finally hit the market). So as you start your search, let me know what are the top ways to get a message to you quickly. Is it a cell phone call, text message, email or some other way? This way I know before the situation arises how to get those messages to you.
And the flip side, there may be times you need to get a hold of me quickly. I’m always available so call direct 518-321-1870 or also text me. Remember to ask during our initial conversations how to best get a hold of me for a quick response.
Set Expectations
Most people would prefer to avoid surprises, especially during a real estate search, which can be stressful at times. That’s why I recommend a discussion about expectations during the beginning of the process. You and I should be able to have a conversation that covers:
- What you can expect to get for a certain price range
- How long will it take to find a home
- How frequent can you look at houses
- The process for when you want to make an offer
and any other questions or concerns you may have. By talking about and setting expectations early on, the real estate process tends to be more enjoyable for all.
Do you have more questions about how to begin your search for a new home here in the Lake George area? Then please give me a call at 518-321-1870, or send me a quick note. I look forward to working with you, and hopefully make you as happy as some of my clients to the right.
