If you are planning on selling your home, odds are that I can host one or more Open House events to showcase your home to potential buyers. This may or may not be an added stress to the selling process, depending on your outlook. But what you definitely don’t want is a real estate agent whose ideas for the open house make you uncomfortable, or don’t align with how you would like the process to go. If you don’t want to have one, that is fine too.
That’s why I am very upfront regarding how I run Open Houses. I want sellers to know what to expect from me so there are as few surprises as possible throughout the process. I am not an agent who tries to overwhelm Open House guests with an entire buffet of food and drinks. I want them to be focused on the home. Their time is important just like yours, and the more they spend eating the less time they will have to imagine themselves living there. Many times I will offer little snacks, and maybe some light background music, but no need to hire a string quartet. You want the home to be inviting – a place they don’t want to leave.
I will engage guests as they enter the home [I will take notes for the home seller on what people say, what they like/dislike, the size of the families that are showing interest, and anything else that may be of use to position and market the home.] I want them to know that I am available for any questions during and even after their visit.
My philosophy is to let potential Buyers explore and imagine on their own. The longer they are engaged and enjoying their preview of the home, the more they might want to stay permanently!
My feeling is that with the Open House the main attraction is the home and the property. I’m here to help and let my knowledge and professionalism speak for itself.
